As part of our ongoing commitment to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, we’re pleased to announce the addition of the Okuma MULTUS B250II multitasking CNC machine to our production floor.
This investment reflects our focus on building more efficient, capable, and stable processes that deliver consistent value to our customers. The MULTUS B250II allows us to combine turning, milling, and multi-axis machining into a single setup—reducing waste, minimizing variation, and improving overall process flow.
Designed to Reduce Waste and Improve Flow
The Okuma MULTUS B250II is engineered to support Lean principles by consolidating multiple machining operations into one machine. Fewer setups and reduced part handling translate directly into improved accuracy, shorter lead times, and more predictable outcomes.
Key capabilities include:
- B-axis milling head with up to 225° of rotation, allowing complex features to be completed in one setup
- Main spindle with full C-axis control for integrated turning and milling operations
- High-speed milling spindle capable of up to 12,000 RPM, supporting efficient material removal and fine finishing
- Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) with up to 60 tools, reducing changeover time and interruptions
- Okuma OSP control, optimized for multitasking and process reliability
- Thermo-Friendly Concept, helping maintain dimensional stability during long or repeat production runs
With a maximum turning diameter of approximately 23.6 inches (600 mm), the MULTUS B250II enables us to handle complex, medium-to-large components while maintaining consistency and repeatability.
What This Means for Our Customers
By applying Lean thinking to both our processes and our equipment investments, this machine delivers measurable benefits:
- Reduced lead times through fewer setups and streamlined workflows
- Improved quality and repeatability by eliminating unnecessary handling and repositioning
- Greater process stability, supporting consistent results across production runs
- Increased flexibility, allowing us to respond more efficiently to changing customer requirements
This capability allows us to complete more work in-house while maintaining tighter control over quality and delivery.
Investing with Purpose
At Reich Tool & Design, continuous improvement isn’t a one-time initiative—it’s an ongoing commitment. The addition of the Okuma MULTUS B250II supports our Lean strategy by enabling smarter workflows, better use of floor space, and improved utilization of skilled resources.
Our team is actively training and refining processes to fully integrate this machine into our production system, ensuring it supports standardized work, efficiency, and long-term value.
Moving Forward
This investment strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality, precision components while continuously improving how we operate. The Okuma MULTUS B250II is another step forward in our mission to build efficient, reliable, and customer-focused manufacturing solutions.
We look forward to applying these enhanced capabilities to future projects and continuing to improve alongside our customers.
